Description
Ethiopia Yirgacheffe – 12 oz.
Ethiopia is commonly accepted as the birthplace of coffee (although Yemen might beg to differ) and as such the culture is deeply steeped in it. It’s the 6th-largest coffee producing country in the world, with Ethiopians drinking over half of what they produce.
Our coffee comes from the Yirgacheffe region in south-central Ethiopia where it’s been grown by small farmers who often have the coffee trees next to their houses interspersed with other plants. Yirgacheffe is technically a trademarked micro-region inside the larger Sidamo region. Yirgacheffe coffee is grown at around 5,500 feet above sea level and then wet-processed after harvest. This gives it a clean, bright, floral character and extended aftertaste.
Lighter roasts make the coffee lean more towards the rose petal/citrus/tea end of the flavor spectrum, while darker roasts bring a surprising amount of blueberry, almond, and cinnamon while retaining its long-lasting clean character. We like to roast this to Full City or Full City +.
